Please help me! DO YOU RECOGNIZE YOUR STUDENTS IN YOUR CLASS?

Is this a simple question? No, I don’t think so. For me, this is a difficult question. Why? There will be lots of answers for the question and I – Mr. Septo, an English lecturer in Perbanas Institute – want to ask your help. I need your contribution to answer the title above or I would clarify the question again into “Does Mr. Septo recognize his students in his class?”
If you are my students in this semester OR if you are my students from previous semesters, would you like to help me by writing a paragraph only or maybe more to give your opinion about me? You will be a helpful and kind person because you will share your ideas about me, my teaching approach, or my style to know my students.
Ok. Thanks for you who have shared and contributed the idea. God bless you always.

In my opinion about Mr. Septo teaching approach, I would like to say he is very perfectionist and detail oriented person. For every class, he will come on time and well prepared. He will start with greet his students and sometime gives a small talk about current topic. Then he starts his lecture clearly and slowly. He exactly knows the material that he will teach and he using easily understood language in order to make his students understand, he also gives the jokes to break the ice. At the end of his class, he makes Q&A session, in the way to clarify that his students understand about the materials. He actively asked the student who don’t understand and we are going to avoid his eyes because scare being asked :). Furthermore, he will give an exercise with a format and deadline to push his students study and practice. The most I remember about Mr. Septo is that he always gives a smile and he does his best to make his students fully understand about the materials.

Every student is certainly familiar with the name Mr. Septo, either from the source of any student. But whether Mr. Septo recognizes its student? Some of the ways to do that is often mentioned the name of the student on the list of attendance, pay attention to the student body to keep a smile, ask-answer to students.

Given this task I can help give my opinion here, “Do You Recognize The Students In Your Class?” Mr. Septo English lecturer who taught me is one of the good professor, he tried to get to know all the students he taught and he is also professor of disciplined and responsible. As his case he was always on time and make the class is always active. The good professor can recognize his students in the classroom, one of them to know the person and his name. Because there is a saying “do not know it was love” with us to know each other, by his professor and vice versa will arise a sense of familiarity and approaches in teaching in the classroom. But do not recognize each other excessively and recognize over the edge like to know more privacy. With only lecturers know the name of course, a student feel their familiarity. And the atmosphere of the classroom will feel warm.

In my opinion, for students who had been taught by Mr septo will answer the question ‘Recognize Mr. Septo does his students in his class?’ with the answer “Yes!”. That’s because Mr. Septo always trying to memorize every student is taught by him with their nickname. Not only the most diligent students or most naughty students in the class, but each student would be recognized by Mr. Septo, one by one. Most lecturers are just trying to recognize the most prominent students in the class. Maybe for most students who are the less prominent students, will feel that they aren’t important for the lecturers. In fact, by recognizing one by one student who teaches, lecturers will more easily determine the ability of each student. As a student, I definitely want to be known by every lecturer who taught me like Mr. Septo recognize me. He not only recognize the name of each student. He is also someone who is humorous in teaching. Not only humorous, the method of his teach are easily understandable by me. He also didn’t forget to always offer his time when there were still unclear, and he usually uses the phrase ‘come to papa’. It certainly would make every student has been a good impression during taught by him. I hope the other lecturers can be like Mr.Septo who began trying to recognize their students at least just students’ nickname. If all lecturers can recognize each student in the class, it will make more students feel more comfortable in the class.

MR. Septo is a lecturer at the Perbanas Institute teaching English. He was one of the lecturers who can memorize the names one by one and the small faces. With can memorize and recognize faces its student one by one to make the relationship between lecturers with students became closer and the absence of a distance so that students are not awkward to ask or share opinions with lecturers when there are things they do not understand in the context of courses on explain. In addition with memorizing and know its student one by one can make it easy for lecturers to provide value to its student with the objective not subjective. After such conditions awaken automatically makes the learning process becomes more comfortable. Smile and do not prop up the Chin is simple but very apply in its class. MR. Septo not only apply it to his student, but he also did things like a smile and did not sustain the Chin while in class or while teaching. Such things may be also applied by other lecturers because things look simple can have a large effect on the learning process of the students in the class. Lecturers can also do the same thing as MR. septo by memorizing and recognizing its student one by one in this way professors can know the capabilities of his student in the classroom not only with the value of the exam results finally alone but know its student’s ability during the process of his education, so there is no longer a lecturer who provide value lightly or giving the same value to all the students in one class. For there are those students who have already studied seriously but at the same rate with a lazy student. It also can be said as one of the ways professors appreciate its student and the student will not be lazy again in the process of teaching and learning.

The best lecturer, like any good talk, and invite students to think imaginatively and conceptually about a significant theme or problem. And I think Mr. Septo is including into the type of the best lecturer. In my opinion all lecturers should know all of their students , the reason why a lecturer should know their students is to build a human connection. It means that if students and a lecturer know each other well, a process of study will be better. A lecturer can decide their grades too from daily activities in class, not just give the grades from the final result of exam. Because sometimes, it’s not fair for some of students especially they who have been struggle or give their best. And also I know about Mr. Septo from English for economics to English for business that Mr Septo is a discipline person, He’s always on time in the class, He’s always give us a homework and corrected it one by one and Mr. Septo always told us what is the mistake and then he asked us to correct the homework. Does Mr. Septo recognize his students? My opinion about that is “yes”. Absolutely yes! Mr. Septo always recognizes his students, and always regards his students outside the class. I think that is very good and this is what lecturer should be. By recognizing students, it means that he cares about his students in class. Moreover, by recognizing his students, he can understand various learning styles of each students. He always use a good teaching-method in class, indicating by delivering materials in an easy way. He knows that our English ability is various among individual, so that he uses his best teaching-method to deliver the message. For the example while delivering “English grammatical rules”, he uses the easiest ways by repeating more than one time if one of his students doesn’t understand the materials. He comes up and points several students to clarify whether they understand material in that day. What I love about him is that he teaches us how to write English formally and in the same way identifying wrong pronunciation to be corrected accordingly. Sometimes he tells us on how to learn English outside class, and he always motivate us to always learn English everywhere to improve our English. His care on students and ability to implement his best learning approach to students makes me feel that he is one of my unforgettable lecturers so far.

My opinion about Mr. Septo is teaching approach. He is a very perfectionist and detail oriented person. For every class, he will come on time and well prepared. He will start by greeting his students, he sometime gives a small talk about current topic. Then he starts his lecture clearly and slowly. He exactly knows the material that he will teach and he using easily understood language in order to make his students understand, He also gives the jokes to break the ice. At the end of his class, he makes Q&A session, in the way to clarify that his students understand about the materials. He actively asks the student who don’t understand and we are going to avoid his eyes because scared for being asked :). Furthermore, he will give an exercise with a format and deadline to push his students study and practice. The most I remember about Mr. Septo is that he always gives a smile and he does his best to make his students fully understand about the materials.
